Ask answers from the sources you are allowed to use. Each answer can point back to the episode or article it came from, including the moment to play.
Scope the question. Ask across everything you follow, one show, a folder, a single episode, or an article.
Choose how to ask. Chat keeps a conversation. Deep Search writes a multi-source report. Synthesize looks for agreement, contradiction, and gaps. Summarize returns structured bullets. Teach Me explains with examples.
Citations you can play. Numbered citations stay attached to the answer. You can open a cited YouTube moment or seek the audio, and star the source for later.
Personas, voice, and memory. Optionally ask through a host or custom persona tied to selected sources. Dictate a question in browsers that support speech recognition, and listen to an answer read aloud. Review or delete what Sedgem has learned about your interests in Settings.
Enter a subject and Sedgem ranks timestamped moments from your active subscriptions into a virtual queue. It seeks into the original audio. It does not stitch, export, or redistribute a new file.
Your subscriptions only. The queue is built from shows you follow and other catalog content you are permitted to use. Another person’s library is not part of the search.
Attributed clips. Every moment carries the show, a transcript excerpt, and a start time. Overlapping hits from the same episode are dropped.
Open the full episode. From a clip you can open the source episode at that timestamp, via the web reader or a sedgem:// deep link.
An honest empty state. If nothing playable is indexed yet, Sedgem says so and points you to Discover. It does not invent clips.
Episodes open with their audio and transcript. Articles open as reading. Citations and Subject Streams can drop you at a timestamp instead of making you scrub.
Audio and transcript together. Catalog episodes play the original audio and show the transcript when ingestion has finished. Articles open as sanitized reading.
Playback that remembers you. The episode player resumes saved progress, changes speed from 0.5× to 3×, skips back or forward, and can set a sleep timer. You can copy the transcript or share a link.
Ask from the item. From an episode or article you can open Ask already scoped to that item.
A command bar from anywhere. Inside the app, ⌘K or Ctrl+K can search the library, jump somewhere, follow a source, or answer inline.
Add podcasts, YouTube channels, and RSS feeds. Preview a source before it is saved. Upload your own audio or documents, import an OPML file, or forward newsletters.
Discover. Search podcasts and YouTube channels, or paste an RSS feed. Featured starting points include business, technology, health, and news.
Preview, then confirm. Adding a URL fetches a preview first. Nothing is subscribed until you confirm. Large shows ask how many recent episodes to add; the default is the last 10.
Indexing in the background. Sedgem uses existing captions when it can find them, then transcribes audio, then chunks and indexes the text so search and Ask can cite it. Processing does not block the page.
Uploads, OPML, and newsletters. Upload PDF, text, Markdown, Word, or audio. Import OPML, a list of RSS URLs, or an Apple Podcasts link, and export your subscriptions back to OPML. Newsletters can be forwarded to a private address; how many senders you can keep depends on your plan.
Personas are instructions plus the sources they may use. Topics follow a person, company, or concept and collect mentions you can ask about.
Host and custom personas. Create a persona with a name, description, and instructions, then attach the sources it should answer from. Publish it when you want it available in Ask.
Share a persona. A published persona can generate a share link. The public page is a share token, not a copy of someone else’s private library.
Topics. Follow a person, company, or concept and list mentions across the catalog, then start a synthesize question scoped to that topic.
Suggestions you can dismiss. Host personas suggested from your library can be published or dismissed. Nothing is auto-subscribed on your behalf.
