Sedgem
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 14, 2026
This policy explains what Sedgem collects when you use the website, the iOS app, and related services, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Sedgem is an AI knowledge product for podcasts and other long-form sources. You follow shows, channels, articles, and newsletters. Sedgem transcribes and indexes that library so you can ask questions with citations and play subject moments across the sources you follow.
The service is offered at https://www.sedgem.com and in the Sedgem iOS app. This policy covers those surfaces and the API that supports them.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use Sedgem, we collect:
- Account information. Email address, password (handled by our authentication provider), display name, and, if you choose them, sign-in with Google or Apple. The native iOS settings screen can also store an optional age range and topic interests you select.
- Library and content. Shows, feeds, and channels you follow; files and links you upload; newsletter mail sent to your Sedgem inbox alias; folders, stars, read state, and notes; and playback position stored on your device.
- Ask and personalization. Questions you submit, answers, citations, conversation history, and feedback such as ratings. Sedgem can build a learned memory and taste summary from your use. You can view, rebuild, or delete that memory in Settings.
- Billing. On the web, Paddle processes checkout. Sedgem receives plan, subscription status, and transaction identifiers. We do not receive your full payment card number. On iOS, Apple processes In-App Purchase when that billing path is enabled for your build.
- Device, notifications, and keys. A push token and notification preferences if you allow alerts. On-device model settings you save stay on the device. If you connect a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) provider key, Sedgem stores that key encrypted for your account.
- Diagnostics you choose to share. Settings can copy a debug bundle (the screen you are on, user agent, and any error already shown). It is sent only if you pass it to support.
- Product analytics, when configured. Web and mobile can send PostHog events such as a page path or that a question was submitted, including its length, mode, and scope. Shared-link tokens and content identifiers are stripped from page paths. Question text is included only when a separate text-capture flag is turned on. Web analytics run with session recording off, autocapture off, and person profiles disabled.
How we use information
We use this information to:
- Create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- Transcribe, chunk, embed, and index sources so Ask, library search, and Subject Streams can cite the moment that answered you.
- Remember preferences, learned memory, and notification choices you set.
- Enforce plan limits, process subscriptions, and prevent abuse.
- Operate, debug, and improve the service, including optional product analytics.
- Respond when you contact us about your account.
AI and service providers
To answer a question, Sedgem may send the question and relevant excerpts from your library to a model provider. Which provider is used depends on your settings, your organization's settings, and how the deployment is configured. Providers that may receive that data include Anthropic, OpenAI, Groq, Replicate, and OpenRouter. A self-hosted Ollama model may be used when one is configured. Transcription may use YouTube captions, then speech-to-text from Replicate or Groq. Embeddings use OpenAI unless the deployment is configured otherwise.
When OpenRouter is the selected provider, requests are sent with zero-data-retention and with data collection denied, so those calls are limited to endpoints that do not retain prompts for training. Other providers process data under their own terms. If you use BYOK, prompts go to the provider for the key you supplied, under that provider's policy.
Account data and library data are stored with Supabase (authentication, database, and file storage). The website is hosted on Vercel. Payment data is processed by Paddle on the web and by Apple on iOS when purchases are enabled. Optional analytics go to PostHog. Email delivery for notifications and newsletter forwarding uses the mail provider configured for that deployment.
On-device mode, private mode, and BYOK
The iOS app can answer with an on-device model (Apple Intelligence when available, or a GGUF model you download). Private mode is designed to keep that Ask path on the device instead of sending it to a cloud model. BYOK sends the prompt to your provider and stores the key encrypted for your account. Cloud Ask remains available when you have not chosen an on-device-only or private path.
How long we keep information
We keep account and library information while your account is open and as needed to provide the service. An embedding cache may store a hash of content that was embedded, so identical text does not have to be embedded again. Billing records are kept as required for accounting, fraud prevention, and the payment provider's rules.
You can delete a chat, or all chat history, from Ask history on the web and in the iOS app. Deleted chats are removed immediately. Learned memory is cleared at once and rebuilt from your remaining chats about 10 minutes after your last delete. De-identified summaries used for recommendations are rebuilt nightly and stop reflecting a deleted chat within 72 hours. Answers you saved separately in Library are kept until you delete them.
You can delete learned memory from Settings. You can export subscriptions (OPML or JSON) from Settings. Signing out ends the session on that device. You can delete your account and the personal information tied to it in Settings, in the iOS app (Settings, Account, Delete account) or on the web. You can also contact us as described below. We delete or de-identify that information, except records we must keep for security, fraud prevention, or legal and accounting duties. Deleting your account does not cancel a paid plan: cancel it with Apple, Google Play or Paddle. Some payment records stay with Paddle or Apple under their policies.
Your choices and rights
- Update your display name and AI preferences in Settings.
- Turn notification categories off, and revoke push permission in the operating system.
- Delete learned memory, disconnect a BYOK key, and sign out.
- Export your subscription list.
- Delete your account in Settings, or ask us for a copy of your personal information.
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a US state with a privacy law (including California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, and to appeal a denial. We will honor requests that apply to you. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define “sale” or “share.”
Children
Sedgem is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Do not create an account if you are under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Sedgem and its providers may process information in the United States and in other countries where those providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your own. Counsel should add the transfer mechanism that applies (for example standard contractual clauses) before this draft is treated as final for users in the EEA or the UK.
Security
Library data is scoped to your account in the database. BYOK keys are stored encrypted. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Use a unique password and protect your devices.
Changes
We will post changes on this page and update the date above. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will provide a more prominent notice in the product when that is practical.
Contact
To ask a privacy question, request a copy of your information, or ask us to delete your account, contact the operator of Sedgem through https://www.sedgem.com and send the request from the email address on your account so we can find it. A dedicated privacy mailbox is not published in the product yet. Counsel should add a monitored address here before this draft is treated as final.
The Terms of Service govern your use of Sedgem.
