Sedgem

Terms of Service

Last updated September 30, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Sedgem for the website, the iOS app, and the API. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them and to the Privacy Policy.

The service

Sedgem turns podcasts and other long-form sources into a personal library you can search and ask questions about. Features include following shows and feeds, uploads, a newsletter inbox, cited Ask answers, Subject Streams (ranked moments across sources you follow), sharing, and optional on-device answers.

The service is offered at https://www.sedgem.com and in the Sedgem apps. “Sedgem” in these terms means the operator of those services. A separate legal-entity name is not recorded in the product and should be inserted by counsel before this draft is treated as final.

Sedgem is in active development. Features, limits, and model providers can change. Some builds, including early TestFlight releases, may leave purchases turned off.

Accounts

You need an account for most of the product. Provide an accurate email address and keep your credentials private. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use Sedgem. If you use Sedgem for an organization, you represent that you can bind that organization to these terms.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, creates risk for other people, or looks unused or compromised. You may stop using Sedgem at any time and may ask us to delete the account as described in the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Break the law, or infringe someone else's copyright, privacy, or other rights.
  • Upload or forward content you do not have the right to store and process in Sedgem.
  • Probe, scan, or attack the service; bypass plan limits, authentication, or rate limits; or use the API in a way that degrades it for others.
  • Use Ask or exports to build a competing model or dataset, except where a mandatory law says that limit does not apply.
  • Misrepresent AI output as a human professional opinion or as Sedgem's own view.
  • Use the service to send spam or to harass other people.

Your content

You keep ownership of content you upload, notes you write, and questions you ask. You give Sedgem a license to host, transcribe, index, embed, display, and process that content only as needed to operate the features you use, including generating answers and citations and, if you turn sharing on, showing the shared page to people who have the link.

You represent that you have the rights needed for that license. The license ends when the content is deleted from the service, except for copies kept in backups for a limited period and records we must retain for legal or security reasons.

Podcasts and other third-party content

Shows, videos, articles, and newsletters you follow remain the property of their owners. Sedgem does not claim ownership of that material. Following a public feed lets Sedgem retrieve, transcribe, and index it for your library and, where the product supports it, play cited moments and Subject Streams from sources you follow.

Your use of a source is also subject to that source's terms and to copyright law. If a rights holder asks us to remove material, we may do so. Do not use Sedgem to redistribute a show or article you do not have the right to share.

AI output

Ask answers are generated by machine learning models. They can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date even when a citation is attached. Citations are there so you can check the source. Sedgem output is not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice, and it is not a statement by the original speaker unless the cited passage says so.

You are responsible for how you use an answer. Review anything important against the cited source before you rely on it.

Plans, quotas, and billing

Sedgem offers plan tiers (including Free, Pro, and Power) with limits on queries, subscriptions, library capacity, and similar usage. Limits are shown in the product and may change. If you reach a limit, Ask or other features may stop until the period resets or you change plan.

Paid web subscriptions are processed by Paddle. Paid iOS purchases, when enabled, are processed by Apple. Those providers' terms apply to the payment. Taxes may be added. Subscriptions renew until you cancel through the same provider you used to subscribe. Except where a mandatory law requires a refund, fees are non-refundable for the period already paid. Downgrades take effect as the provider and the product describe.

Privacy

The Privacy Policy describes what we collect and how we use it. It is part of these terms.

Third-party services

Sedgem depends on authentication, hosting, model, transcription, analytics, and payment providers. Their services can change or fail. If you connect your own API key, that provider's terms govern the calls made with it. Links to podcasts, YouTube, articles, or other sites leave Sedgem, and those sites have their own terms.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep Sedgem available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may add, change, or remove features, including during the beta. We may also set or change technical limits that protect the service.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, Sedgem disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and any warranty that answers will be accurate or that the service will be error-free. Some jurisdictions do not allow these disclaimers, so they may not apply to you. Counsel should confirm this section before the draft is treated as final.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Sedgem will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of these terms or the service. Sedgem's total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid Sedgem for the service in the three months before the claim, or fifty US dollars if you paid nothing. These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, including liability that cannot be excluded for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Counsel should confirm the cap and any required local carve-outs before this draft is treated as final.

Ending these terms

You may stop using Sedgem at any time. We may stop providing the service to you if you break these terms or if we discontinue the product. Sections that by their nature should survive (including content licenses already exercised, disclaimers, liability limits, and the contact terms) will survive.

Changes to these terms

We will post updated terms on this page and change the date above. If you keep using Sedgem after the update, you agree to the new terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service and ask us to close your account.

Governing law

The governing law, venue, and any dispute process will be added after legal review. Until then, contact Sedgem first so we can try to resolve the issue directly. Nothing in this draft limits rights you have under the mandatory consumer laws of your place of residence.

Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to the operator of Sedgem through https://www.sedgem.com, from the email address on your account. A dedicated legal mailbox is not published in the product yet. Counsel should add a monitored address here before this draft is treated as final.
